“Life seems but a quick succession of busy nothings.” – Jane Austen

The History Channel, Gilmore Girls, Wal-Mart, WWI, and Harriet Miers

It’s a sure sign of things to come when you see two car accidents before you ever get on the intertstate in the morning. In all actuality, today for the most part wasn’t too bad; compared to yesterday that is. I kept busy and got a lot of work finished, but about an hour before time to go home, the boss comes in, and we have to fix a few fiscal things. I left work exceedingly late this evening. Then had to fight the people at Wal-Mart (aka hell.)

Okay, I don’t hate Wal-Mart completley because I’m not one of those people who believe that it’s destroying America or anything. I actually just hate most of the way most people act there, oh and just this local Wal-Mart. It has to be about the worst run Wal-Mart I’ve ever been to.

A good thing is that yesterday I managed to set the old VCR and tape the History Channel’s “WWI in Color” narrated by Edward Herrman. I could watch this for hours upon hours. I watch this footage and I sort of imagine that Jem Blythe, Walter Blythe, Jerry Meredith, Ken Ford, and etc. are on the screen. It will really help with visualing and putting to words the horrible reality of that war.

Did manage to calm down long enough to watch Gilmore Girls tonight. I’m more than ready for Rory to get her act together. Last season, the show’s creators bored us with the whole Richard / Emily breakup. They’re doing pretty much the same thing with Lorelai /Rory this year. The bad thing is, the great chemistry between the Gilmore Girls is what has made it wonderful. It’s still a good show, don’t get me wrong, but until they’re at peace, the Gilmore Girls have lost some of their magic. Also, I could so totally do without any Lane storyline. She needs to move away or something.

Tonight’s episode showed a little interaction between the two, but can you imagine how great the reparte would have been if they were sociable when Lorelai hesitated in renouncing Satan? It would have made the whole Bo thing better too.

Again, I miss the old Rory. I don’t like this one too much. She’s becoming too much like Emily.

Ah, talking about the Gilmore Girls is so much easier than discussing say, Bush’s choice to replace Sandra Day O’Connor. It seems no one is happy with this decision, neither left nor right. In my opinion, if she is just, fair, and interpret’s the law correctly rather than making the bench her politcal soapbox, then she would have my approval. The judicial branch of the government isn’t supposed to create law, but interpret and uphold it. I don’t want a radical from either side to sit there. That person should run for a seat in the legislative branch of government.

Oh, what do I know? I’m registered with a party, but I never intentionally would vote straight party. That’s wrong. I vote for the individual and how they stand on issues that concern me.

That’s pretty much the most political you’ll see me get here. I don’t want to impose my views on others.
