Eating Politcal Crow

Posted by Busy Nothings on August 25, 2008

As adults, we’re often made to eat our words – sometimes when we don’t really want to but must for the greater good.  During the primary season, I swore up and down that I would never-ever vote for John McCain.  I stated all the reasons I didn’t trust him, and how I believed he was more liberal than conservative.  I have to admit that come November, my vote will undoubtedly be cast for John McCain because despite my desires for a more conservative candidate (i.e. Mitt Romney) he is the presumptive nominee for the Republican Party.

Am I voting for him because he is a Republican?  No.  I’m voting for him because when you compare him to Barack Obama in the role of Commander and Chief, there is no comparison.  I have to admit that earlier this year I was a little intrigued by the media circus surround Obama, but what I’ve learned of the man since the primaries gives me no choice but to vote McCain.  Obama will raise taxes – for everyone.  He believes in the redistribution of wealth (i.e. Communism).  He thinks that the government should control health care.  Uh,, haven’t the glowing reviews of the systems in Canada and the U.K. shown us that it won’t work?  When has the government ever taken control of anything and made it better, more functional, and streamlined?  Never.  just look at any of the other entitlement programs that exist.  They’re consumed with red tape and are broken.

I cannot vote for a man whose wife says that she’s never been proud of her country as an adult.  I don’t care how much whining they do, but the beliefs and actions of the President’s spouse matter.  The spouse is supposed to be the closest confidant of the President, and often times the closest adviser.  The Clinton marriage should never be an example of what a Presidential marriage should be.

I will cast my vote for McCain because he is for off-shore drilling.  He believes that an embryo is a human life at conception.  He doesn’t think of having children as punishment.  He’s ready to be the Commander and Chief of our armed forces on day one.  We can’t have Barack stumble through while we’re still fighting a war.

So you see, I’ve had no choice but to change my stance, to eat my words, politically speaking.  I can’t allow the media with their hormonal school-girl crush decide who our next President will be.  I don’t care how many times Chris Matthews’s leg tingles.

Random Thoughts and Observations – August 1, 2008 Edition

Posted by Busy Nothings on August 1, 2008

  • First of all, let me say that I’m very thankful for the husband that I have, that we share the same moral, religious, and political beliefs.  I was perusing the friends of friends on MySpace, and saw that a guy I briefly dated is running as a Democrat for the State House in Oklahoma.  There is no way on God’s green earth that I, well could ever have married him because I can’t stand him as a person, have supported him for office!  Of course, we see things totally differently politically.  I’m all for small government, freedom of religion, freedom in itself, low taxes – or no taxes, drilling for oil domestically, building new refineries and nuclear plants, and just plain common sense.  Like I said, I’m eternally grateful for my husband because he does have common sense, no matter how much I tease him otherwise.
  • Secondly, never doubt the power of the personal blog.  Sunday or Monday I posted the tale of our troubles in finding a church home before finding the one we recently joined, naming one church in particular, and actually got a response back from said offending church!  I just deleted the post because I had reservations about naming the church to an extent.  I was asked to get in contact with them to help with this issue.  Maybe I should, but I really want nothing to do with the whole lot of them, still yet.  I disagree with so much of what they represent that I would do little more than criticize.  Oh, and I believe in having a pastor, not a “spiritual life coach.”  That’s the sort of thing Oprah has, and I do not belong to the Church of Oprah.
  • I made a special point to try and listen to all of The Rush Limbaugh Show today via the Internet because today was the special 20′th Anniversary Episode.  I usually just get to listen as I drive around in my Camry at lunch, but today I listened at my desk.  I love listening to El Rushbo because I AM an educated, informed woman in her late twenties who thinks for myself, rather than following the drivel that most of the Drive-By Media spews forth for us to ingest.  Anyway, I heard Rush give the funniest name to the likes of Paris Hilton, Britney Spears, and Barack Obama – “celebutards.”  Honestly, the name in itself says it all, I think; for all three of them.  Also,  yesterday I had the joy of listening to an archived clip of the infamous “Rita X,” and her off-the-wall, liberal malapropisms.  I laughed more than I have in ages after listening to that.  I have got to talk Bart into letting me join Rush 24/7.
  • Lastly, I want to say that it’s beyond time that animal cruelty become a felony in the State of Arkansas.  Now, I don’t think we should have a bill written by the likes of PETA or HSUS fanatics, but it should warrant more than a misdemeanor when people bash in the heads of innocent dogs, and use cattle prods on them in ways no one should use one on anyone.

You’ll Get Run Over…

Posted by Busy Nothings on January 15, 2008

Political stupidity.  I can’t stand it.  It absolutley abhors me that people will vote for Hilary Clinton just because she’s a woman or Barack Obama because he is black.  If you want to vote for them, then do it because they’re the best candidate to run our country.  I don’t think either is the best candidate for president, but that’s because they’re liberals and want to strip away all of our freedoms from us in order to control every aspect of our lives in the name of “protecting” us, not because of race or gender.

The same goes for people who want to vote for Mike Huckabee because he is a minister and is pro-life and anti-gay marriage.  Guess what?  Those are the only two conservative tenants that man holds to.  He is soft on illegal immigration.  Trust me, I live in Arkansas.  He wanted to give scholarships to illegals to go to college.  He closed many small schools, taking away the identity of many communities, forcing children to ride buses for indecent amounts of time.  He allowed a rapist to be pardoned in order to kill people in Missouri.  He raised taxes, and he made a child’s weight be a part of his permanent school record.

He claims to be a moderate or middle of the road candidate, but you can’t be middle of the road.  Like my pastor said Sunday, “If you keep walking down the middle of the road, you’ll eventually be run over.”  It’s true too.

Just because you’re an evangelical Christian doesn’t mean that you should vote for Huckabee.  Look at ALL the issues, and see if he’s the candidate for you.  You shouldn’t vote for a group, but the man and/or woman who is running.

Right now, I’m supporting either Romney or Thompson.  I’ll make up my mind before Super Tuesday’s primary.
